John Muir Elementary School in Lodi Unified School District serves kindergarten through sixth grade students and operates on a modified traditional calendar. Located in the Spanos Park East Development in North Stockton, John Muir Elementary School opened on July 5, 1994. John Muir Elementary School is named after the famous environmentalist, Yosemite advocate and founder of the Sierra Club. John Muir also known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks", was an influential Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, glaciologist, and early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States of America.
