Garden

Garden Club

Garden Club students range from Kinder to 6th grade, and new students can join any time. Garden club members learn basic garden skills such as weeding, planting, pollination, entomology, and environmental stewardship.  Garden club meets year round every Monday after school.  Future projects include: pumpkin growing contest, vermicomposting, and Farmer's Market Fridays.

Running

Running Club

The John Muir Running Club puts the fun back into run. We have runners from Kindergarten to 6th grades and we also have their families joining in. The Running Club is motivated to be healthy and with a healthy body comes a healthy mind.

Gov

Student Government

The purpose of the student government is to give students at John Muir Elementary an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student government is the voice of the student body.

Uke

Ukulele Club

Ukulele Club is an exciting club that teaches students how to play the ukulele. This club consists of grades 4-6 beginning players and advanced. We are able to perform all around the community from school concerts, to retirement homes, to the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Weber's Point. If this sounds like something exciting to try out, don't forget to sign up at the beginning of the school year!

Science

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division. Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Through Science Olympiad, students, teachers, parents, principals and business leaders bond together and work toward a shared goal.

Math

 Math Olympiad

John Muir’s Math Olympiad is for all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math lovers interested in building their problem solving skills in a fun and safe environment. We meet each week and learn creative mathematical strategies and concepts in a hands-on way! At the end of the year John Muir’s Math Olympiad heads to Tokay High to compete in the LodiUSD Math Tournament.
